  3. Take 1 onion
  4. Make ready Pilau masala

  6. Take Oil

Steps to make Vegan pilaf/pilau:
  1. Fry the onions in oil until brown
  2. Add the boiled cowpeas(bought from hawkers in town) salt and pilau masala and cover for 3 minutes until the onions soften and disappear.
  3. Add six cups water and rice then cover and let cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Let it simmer on low heat for 5 minutes or until rice is cooked.
  5. Serve with kachumbari.
