  2. Make ready 2 tbsp Sugar (granulated)
  3. Take 220 ml Water
  4. Take 1/2 tsp Red food coloring
  5. Get 180 grams Smooth sweet bean paste
  6. Prepare 12 Cherry leaves preserved in salt

Instructions to make Easy Sakura Mochi (Domyoji) Using A Microwave Steaming Container:
  1. Soak the cherry leaves in a bowl of water to remove excess salt (about 30 minutes).
  2. Divide the smooth sweet bean paste into 12 equal portions.
  3. Put the domyoji-ko and sugar in a microwave steaming container. Add the water a little at a time while stirring the mixture.
  4. Add the red food coloring and mix. (Mix well or else the color will be uneven.)
  5. Cover with a lid and microwave for 4 minutes at 600 W. Let sit with the lid on for about 10 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, take the cherry blossom leaves out of the water, and pat dry them with a paper towel.
