Foods That Make You Happy

Many of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we need to keep away from them. At times, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nourishing and good for us to eat. There are some foods that, when you consume them, can better your mood. If you are feeling a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, you may be astonished to discover, are great at combating depression. Just be sure that you do not throw out the egg yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to improve your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Consume an egg and cheer up!

Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The higher your serotonin levels, the better you will feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein food source.

If you want to fight depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression.

It’s not difficult to drive away your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping boost your happiness levels. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods too. Feeling famished can be awful! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Your mood could really be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea is high in a particular amino acid called L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps raise your mental acuity while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you be a lot healthier. Now you are aware that green tea can help you be happier too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try these hints instead!
