Discover How to Boost Your Mood with Food

Most of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we should avoid them. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that basically can boost your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are needing an emotional boost, test out a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are terrific for helping you battle depression. Just be sure that you do not toss the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for elevating your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–function better. Eat a few eggs to cheer up!

Put together a trail mixout of a variety of seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is possible as these foods are rich in magnesium which increases serotonin production. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you want to fight depression. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can seriously raise your mood.

Some grains are actually wonderful for repelling bad moods. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all excellent for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full also which can really help to improve your mood. It’s not difficult to feel a little bit off when you feel famished! These grains can improve your mood since it’s easy for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your blood glucose which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You just knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This helps raise your mental sharpness while calming the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you be better. Now you know green tea can help you be happier as well!

You can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you so you can feel better! Go with these hints instead!
