Put together several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin you have, the better you will feel. Nuts, on top of raising your mood, can be a great protein source.
Cold water fish are great for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you battle your depression.
It’s not difficult to drive away your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all wonderful for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods also. Feeling hungry can actually bring you down! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your blood glucose which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.
Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is packed full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel healthier. Now you are aware that it can help you be happier also!
