Foods That Make Your Mood Better
Many of us have been trained to think that comfort foods are not good and should be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Other times, comfort foods can be very nutritious and good for us to consume. There are a number of foods that really can improve your moods when you consume them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you don’t toss out the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, especially the yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you boost your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that dictate your mood. Consume an egg and cheer up!
Make several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The higher your levels of serotonin, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a fantastic protein food source.
If you want to fight depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you fight your depression.
Some grains are really wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping raise your happiness levels. These foods can help you feel full for longer too, which can help your mood too. Feeling famished can truly bring you down! These grains can help your mood elevate as it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest them quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same calming the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to be healthy when you consume green tea. Now you are well aware that it helps you to raise your moods too!
You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Try some of these instead!
