Foods That Make You Happy
For the most part, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and have to be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. There are several foods that really can boost your moods when you consume them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you battle depression. You should see to it, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to improve your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try eating an egg and cheer up!
Make some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all helpful for elevating your mood. This is because these nuts are rich in magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of it you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.
If you would like to defeat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.
Grains can be excellent for overcoming a terrible mood. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are great at helping you be happier. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. Feeling starved can be awful! These grains can improve your mood since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You just knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is found to be packed full of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This helps better your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you feel better. Now you are aware that it can help raise your mood too!
