Foods That Make Your Mood Better
Many of us believe that comfort foods are terrible for us and that we ought to avoid them. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this holds true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. Some foods really do elevate your mood when you eat them. Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all helpful for raising your mood. This is possible because these foods are high in magnesium which raises serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more serotonin in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Nuts, on top of improving your mood, can be a superb source of protein.
Cold water fish are great if you wish to be in a better mood. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight depression.
It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you eat grains. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you feel happier. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, helping you feel better. Feeling starved can be awful! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest. You digest these grains faster than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.
Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you become so much healthier. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to elevate your moods also!
