Discover How to Boost Your Mood with Food

Most of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must keep away from them. At times, if the comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. There are a number of foods that actually can improve your moods when you eat them. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, try a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly wonderful at fighting back depression. You need to be sure, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Try to eat an egg and feel happier!

Build a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a great protein source.

Cold water fish are excellent if you would like to be in a better mood. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can really help you overcome depression.

It’s easy to drive away your bad mood when you are eating grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping raise your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer too, helping you feel better. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel famished! The reason these grains are so wonderful for your mood is that they are not difficult to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your blood sugar which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you be better. Now you are aware that it helps you to raise your moods as well!

You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Test out these tips instead!
