Information on How to Boost Your Mood with Food

A lot of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must keep away from them. At times, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be altogether healthy and it’s good for you to eat them. There are several foods that actually can raise your moods when you eat them. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you combat depression. Just make sure that you don’t get rid of the yolk. Every time you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for lifting up your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Try consuming some eggs to feel better!

Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because these nuts are rich in magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin production. Serotonin is known as the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of it in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to bettering your mood, can be a great protein source.

If you wish to fight depression, try eating some cold water fish. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can basically help you fight depression.

Some grains are actually great for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full too which can truly help to make your mood better. Feeling starved can be awful! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy for your stomach to digest. You digest these grains quicker than other foods which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You were just anticipating to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you be a lot healthier. Now you know it can help you be happier also!

So you see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try a few of these suggestions instead.
