Foods That Make Your Mood Better
In general, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and must be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. There are some foods that, when you eat them, could better your mood. When you are feeling a little down and need an emotional boost, test out some of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly terrific at beating back depression. Just make sure that you do not throw out the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to boost your mood. This is because they help improve the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that control your mood. Consume an egg and feel a lot happier!
Make a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because these foods are high in magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The higher your levels of serotonin, the better you are going to feel. Nuts, in addition to raising your mood, can be a great source of protein.
Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression.
Some grains are really wonderful for repelling bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are great at helping you feel happier. These foods can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. Feeling hungry can be a real downer! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not difficult for your body to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your sugar levels which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is high in a particular amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to become healthy when you drink green tea. Now you are aware that green tea helps you to elevate your moods also!
You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you to feel better! Try some of these tips instead.
