Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood
Mostly, people have been conditioned to believe that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and should be avoided. Often, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or some other junk food, this is very true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be really healthy and good for you. Several foods honestly do elevate your mood when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and are needing an emotional boost, test out a few of these.
Eggs, you might be astonished to learn, are wonderful at battling depression. Just be sure that you do not throw out the yolk. The egg yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for elevating your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and feel a lot better!
Make a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all great for raising your mood. This is possible because these foods are rich in magnesium which promotes your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more of it in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Nuts, on top of improving your mood, can be a super source of protein.
If you want to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can seriously boost your mood.
It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you eat grains. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are fantastic at helping you be happier. They fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods too. Feeling starved can be a real downer! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are not hard for your body to digest and process. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea has been found to be packed full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid essentially stimulates brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you be healthier. And now you are aware that it can help raise your mood as well!
Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Test out these hints instead!
