Foods That Make You Happy

Most of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must avoid them. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or another junk food, this is very true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. Several foods really do raise your mood when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually great at dealing with depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for boosting your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–work better. Try to eat an egg and feel better!

Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all helpful for elevating your mood. This is because these nuts are rich in magnesium, which helps to increase your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The higher your serotonin levels, the more pleasant you will feel. Not just that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.

If you would like to battle depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly raise your mood.

Grains can be great for fighting a bad mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all great for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full too which can truly help to better your mood. Feeling famished can be awful! These grains can improve your mood because it’s easy for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your glucose levels which in turn takes your mood to a happier place.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You just knew it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be packed full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood too!

You can see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are bad for you to feel better! Try some of these tips instead.
