Instructions to make Malenge (Pumpkin) mixed with Matoke (Green Banana):
  1. Wash the pumpkin and slice into pieces. Remove the seeds, if you like to cook with them like me, it's okay. Peel the bananas putting them whole in water to avoid darkening. I avoid slicing them at this point, and do so in an empty bowl when almost ready to cook.
  2. Put the cooking oil in the Sufuria and heat it for a minute or so, add the onions and cook them till soft, add the garlic and ginger, cook till they turn brownish. Add the tomatoes and cook them well, add the capsicum and salt.
  3. Add both the Malenge and Matoke, mix well and add water half the size of the mixture in the Sufuria and cook for 20 to 30 minutes. Check if well cooked with very little soup, add dhania, remove from fire and mash them.
  4. Serve with a cup of Cardamon/Ginger/Cinnamon black tea. Enjoy šŸ˜‰.

Foods That Make Your Mood Better

Mostly, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and must be avoided. Often, if the comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nourishing and good for us to eat. There are several foods that really can raise your moods when you consume them. If you seem to be a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, you might be astonished to learn, are wonderful at combating depression. You should be sure, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for raising your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–function better. Eat an egg and feel better!

Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all fantastic for helping to elevate your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given moment. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.

If you would like to beat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can greatly boost your mood.

It’s not hard to fight your bad mood when you eat grains. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all wonderful for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They help you feel full also which can actually help to make your mood better. Feeling hungry can be terrible! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is truly great for your mood. You were just expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have shown that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not hard to be healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that it helps you to elevate your moods too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Go with these hints instead!
