  1. Make ready 3 Cups Old Fashioned Oats
  2. Get 3 Scoops Protein Powder
  3. Prepare 1 Cup Peanut Butter (Or other but butter of choice
  4. Take 1 Cup Maple Syrup
  5. Make ready 2 Cups Dark Chocolate
  6. Make ready Pinch salt
  7. Take Combine syrup and peanut butter in microwave until mixable

Steps to make Apocalypse survival bars:
  1. Mix dry ingredients (oats and protein powder) in a large bowl. Mix throughly, more than you need to, trust me, dry ingredients need more love to integrate.
  2. Mix peanut butter and maple syrup in a Pyrex measuring cup and microwave in 15 second cycles until you can whisk them together. Then whisk them together.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix with a spatula until no pockets of dry powder or oats remain.
  4. Press into an 8x10 glass pan lined with parchment by hand until an even layer is spread.
  5. Place in refrigerator until cool.
  6. Warm chocolate in a double boiler or in a Pyrex measuring cup in the microwave (15 second cycles until melted throughout).
  7. Pour warm chocolate onto cool bars, refrigerate until chocolate is fully set.
  8. Remove from pan, remove parchment. Using a knife,trim the edges until an even rectangle forms. Cut into 12 even bars.
  9. CONSUME.

This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The higher your serotonin levels, the more pleasant you will feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a great protein source.

Cold water fish are great for eating if you want to combat depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. Grains can be excellent for fighting a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really great for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to make your mood better. Feeling starved can really bring you down! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy to digest. You digest them more quickly than other foods which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.
