Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a fantastic protein food source.
Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to beat back depression. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all chock-full of omega-3s and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight depression.
Grains can be excellent for overcoming a bad mood. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are excellent at helping you have a happier mood. These grains fill you up better and that can help you with your moods as well. Feeling famished can truly make you feel awful! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy to digest. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your glucose levels which in turn kicks up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is actually excellent for your mood. You were simply expecting to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You were already aware that green tea could help you become so much healthier. Now you know that green tea helps you to lift your moods also!
