Try Using Food to Boost Your Mood

Most of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we need to stay away from them. Often, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be super nourishing and good for you. There are several foods that, when you consume them, can boost your mood. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. Just see to it that you do not throw out the egg yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Eat a few eggs to cheer up!

Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that tells your brain how you feel at all times. The more of it you have, the happier you are going to feel. Nuts, along with improving your mood, can be a great protein source.

If you would like to fight depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can really help you fight your depression.

It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full also which can truly help to improve your mood. Feeling famished can actually make you feel awful! These grains can improve your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also calming the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you are aware that green tea can help you be happier also!

As you can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you so you can feel better! Try some of these instead!
