Information on How to Boost Your Mood with Food

Most of us believe that comfort foods are not good for us and that we have to stay away from them. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to consume. Several foods actually do raise your mood when you consume them. If you seem to be a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, you may be surprised to discover, are great at combating depression. Just make sure that you do not throw away the yolk. When you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be terrific for elevating your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that dictate your mood. Eat an egg and be happy!

Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is possible since these foods are high in magnesium which increases serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more you have of it, the more pleasant you will feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a great source of protein.

If you want to overcome depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all high in omega-3s and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously boost your mood.

Some grains are really excellent for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are terrific at helping you feel happier. They help you feel full too which can really help to improve your mood. It’s easy to feel a little bit off when you are starving! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these foods more quickly than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Green tea is really good for your mood. You knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you become healthier. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood also!

See, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try a few of these suggestions instead.
