Information on How to Boost Your Mood with Food
A lot of us have been trained to think that comfort foods are terrible and to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely nutritious and it’s good for you to consume them. There are a number of foods that, when you eat them, can better your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.
Eggs, you may be amazed to learn, are wonderful at battling depression. You need to be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–function better. Try to eat an egg and feel happier!
Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all good for elevating your mood. This is because these foods are high in magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The more of this chemical in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a fantastic protein food source.
Cold water fish are great for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.
Grains can be great for driving away a terrible mood. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all excellent for helping you feel happier. These grains fill you up better and that can help improve your moods too. Feeling hungry can be awful! These grains can help your mood elevate as it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest these grains quicker than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Green tea is wonderful for moods. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is rich in a specific amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You likely already knew how easy it is to become healthy when you drink green tea. And now you are aware that green tea can help raise your mood also!
So you see, you don’t need to stuff your face with junk food when you wish to feel better! Try some of these instead!
