Make a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all great for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that directs your brain how you feel all the time. The higher your levels of serotonin, the better you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a fantastic source of protein.
If you wish to overcome depression, try eating some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all full of omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you fight back depression.
Some grains are really excellent for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can truly help to improve your mood. It’s not hard to feel depressed when you are starving! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.
Green tea is really good for your mood. You were sure it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This helps raise your mental acuity while calming the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know that green tea helps you to lift your moods too!
