Eggs, believe it or not, can be really wonderful at fighting back depression. You need to see to it, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the most crucial part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for elevating your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Consume an egg and feel better!
Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all good for elevating your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that tells your brain how you feel all the time. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a terrific source of protein.
Cold water fish are good if you wish to feel happier. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression.
It’s not difficult to drive away your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are excellent at helping you have a happier mood. They help you feel full too which can actually help to better your mood. It’s easy to feel depressed when you feel famished! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s easy for your body to digest them. You digest these grains faster than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is chock-full of an amino acid called L-theanine.
