Discover How to Boost Your Mood with Food
Mostly, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and should be avoided. If your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to eat. There are several foods that basically can raise your moods when you eat them. When you feel a little down and need an emotional pick-me-up, test out a few of these.
Eggs, you may be amazed to discover, are fantastic at battling depression. You must be sure, though, that what you make includes the egg yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most important part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk in particular, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–run better. Try consuming a couple of eggs to jolly up!
Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all wonderful for raising your mood. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which raises serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin you have, the better you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a terrific source of protein.
Cold water fish are great for eating if you wish to battle depression. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: chomping on a tuna fish sandwich can really help you overcome depression.
Some grains are really excellent for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping raise your happiness levels. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods also. Feeling starved can actually bring you down! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are not hard for your body to digest and process. You digest these grains quicker than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You probably already knew how easy it is to become healthy when you consume green tea. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods also!
Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you want to help your moods get better. Try several of these instead!
