Discover How to Improve Your Mood with Food
Most of us have been taught to believe that comfort foods are terrible and to be avoided. Sometimes, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this is true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly nourishing and good for us to eat. There are a number of foods that really can raise your moods when you consume them. When you feel a little down and need an emotional boost, try a few of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually terrific at dealing with depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to improve your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and jolly up!
Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, along with elevating your mood, can be a super protein source.
Cold water fish are excellent if you are wanting to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. These are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you fight your depression.
Some grains are actually excellent for repelling bad moods. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all great for helping you feel better. They can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. Feeling starved can really make you feel awful! These grains can elevate your mood since it’s easy for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel better. Now you are aware that it helps you to raise your moods too!
Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you should eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a few of these instead!
