Several foods actually do improve your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, you may be astonished to discover, are terrific at battling depression. You must see to it, though, that what you make includes the yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, especially the yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to raise your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–run better. Eat a couple of eggs to cheer up!
Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The higher your serotonin levels, the more pleasant you will feel. Not just that but nuts, in particular, are a fantastic source of protein.
Cold water fish are great if you are wanting to feel happier. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you battle your depression.
Some grains are actually wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Quinoa, barley, teff, millet, etc are all good for helping you be in a happier state of mind. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. It’s not hard to feel depressed when you are starving! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps kick start a rise in your sugar levels which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.
Green tea is wonderful for moods. You knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies prove that this particular amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you become better. Now you are aware that it can help raise your mood as well!
