Foods That Make You Happy
Mostly, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and should be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be totally nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. Some foods honestly do improve your mood when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you fight depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most important in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can be terrific for elevating your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–function better. Try consuming some eggs to feel better!
Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be raised by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel all the time. The higher your levels of serotonin, the better you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, particularly, are a great protein food source.
Cold water fish are great for eating if you want to combat depression. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly raise your mood.
It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping boost your happiness levels. These foods can help you feel full for longer as well, which is a mood improver. Feeling starved can actually make you feel awful! These grains can improve your mood as it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest these grains quicker than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You were sure it had to be mentioned in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be packed full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while at the same time making the rest of your body more relaxed. You knew green tea could help you become so much healthier. Now you know green tea can help improve your mood also!
As you can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you so you can feel better! Try several of these instead!
