Turn to Food to Boost Your Mood
For the most part, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and need to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very nourishing and good for us to consume. There are a number of foods that really can improve your moods when you consume them. When you are feeling a little down and need an emotional boost, test out a couple of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for boosting your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Consume an egg and jolly up!
Make several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to boost your mood. This is because these foods are loaded with magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin levels. Serotonin is called the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to raising your mood, can be a super source of protein.
Cold water fish are good if you wish to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all high in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain function a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you battle your depression.
Grains can be good for driving away a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping increase your happiness levels. They fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods as well. Feeling hungry can be awful! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are easy to digest. You digest them quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Green tea is excellent for moods. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is found to be packed full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically stimulates brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You probably already knew it is not difficult to get healthy when you consume green tea. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood too!
So you see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are not good for you just so to feel better! Try several of these instead!
