Learn How to Boost Your Mood with Food

A lot of us have been conditioned to believe that comfort foods are terrible and are to be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to consume. Several foods honestly do boost your mood when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re in need of a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.

Eggs, you may be amazed to find out, are terrific at fighting depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg in terms of helping raise your mood. Eggs, the yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are great for helping to raise your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that dictate your mood–work better. Try consuming some eggs to jolly up!

Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all great for improving your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Nuts, along with raising your mood, can be a great source of protein.

Cold water fish are great if you wish to feel better. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3s. These are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can seriously boost your mood.

Some grains are really excellent for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping raise your happiness levels. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods as well. It’s not difficult to feel depressed when you feel famished! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy to digest. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were just anticipating to read that here, weren’t you? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This helps better your mental sharpness while relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you feel better. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods too!

As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Go with these suggestions instead!
