Steps to make Chicken Livers:
  1. Season your livers with the chicken spice of your choice or in this case, Robertson's.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the livers, browning, leaving them pinkish on the inside.
  3. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. Add additional olive oil if needed and then fry your onions and green peppers together for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the rest of the spices and the garlic and fry for another 2-5 minutes allowing flavors to blend and develop.
  6. Next add the tomatoes - if you are adding tomatoes. At this step I also like to add some tomato sauce or ketchup. You could always substitute or do both.
  7. Return your browned livers to this pan and continue to cook through giving it a good stir through for about 2 minutes or so.
  8. Serve with soft, well buttered, warm Portugeuse bread rolls

Try Using Food to Elevate Your Mood

For the most part, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and have to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Otherwise, comfort foods can be super nutritious and good for you. There are some foods that, when you consume them, can improve your mood. When you are feeling a little down and are in need of an emotional pick-me-up, test out a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are fantastic for helping you fight depression. Just make sure that you don’t throw away the yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, particularly the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–function better. Try to eat an egg and feel a lot happier!

Put together a trail mixfrom various seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to raise your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more you have of it, the happier you will feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to battle depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are chock full of DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously elevate your mood.

It’s not hard to drive away your bad mood when you are eating grains. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all great for helping you feel happier. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. Feeling famished can truly bring you down! These grains can elevate your mood as it’s easy for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps jumpstart a rise in your blood glucose which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this specific amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same relaxing the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you become healthier. And now you know it can help you be happier also!

Now you realize that junk food isn’t necessarily what you should eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try a few of these suggestions instead.
