Discover How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

For the most part, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and should be avoided. At times, if the comfort food is a sugary food or some other junk food, this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods could be super nourishing and good for you. There are several foods that actually can boost your moods when you eat them. If you seem to feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are wonderful for helping you battle depression. You should see to it, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Whenever you wish to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are wonderful for helping to boost your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Consume an egg and feel a lot better!

Put together a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a terrific source of protein.

Cold water fish are wonderful for eating if you want to fight depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly boost your mood.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly wonderful for helping boost your happiness levels. They fill you up better and that can help improve your moods as well. Feeling starved can truly make you feel awful! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s easy for your body to digest them. You digest these grains faster than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while simultaneously loosening up the rest of your body. You likely already knew it is not hard to get healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know that green tea helps you to elevate your moods also!

So you see, you don’t need junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Try these hints instead!
